It does bug me, and IMO, the character of Lucy doesn't seem mature at all.

The age difference doesn't bother me at all. They have tons of chemistry and that's really all what should matter. Grayson looks d**n hot ~Amanda

Don't watch ATWT -- read so much on boards about Lusty -- Passions isn't on this week -- thought I'd tune in to see what this is all about -- anyone know what a good day to tape would be?

It does bug me, and IMO, the character of Lucy doesn't seem mature at all. While the age difference doesn't bother me, I do agree with you that I don't find Lucy to be particularly mature for her age. She was pretty immature before getting kidnapped, and I know she has matured since being kidnapped, but I don't see a drastic change. I mean, she's going to delay going to college basically to spend time with her boyfriend which, IMO, is not a particularly mature decision. It's not exactly that I find Lucy to be very immature for her age, it's just that I just don't see anything about her that would make me think she's any more mature than any other eighteen year old (JMHO - don't mean to offend any Lucy fans here!).

I've always liked the character of Dusty even waaay back when he was with Lily. Then I stopped watching for many years and came back last Oct/Nov....whenever Rose was killed, I started watching right before that. So going in I had reservations directly relating to the age difference AND to the fact that Dusty was now a supposed creep of some sort. However, Grayson is so incredible at making it impossible for me to dislike Dusty. And in the short time I've been back watching, Peyton has grown so much as an actress, I found myself pulling for them more and more, and NOW?? I'm addicted in the best way! I can't even breathe when I watch their scenes and I barely even notice that there IS an age difference. Long winded answer...sorry about that!!

The age difference doesn't bother me. Lucy is mature for her age, and she and Dusty fit. I think that it really depends on the characters and story. With Lusty, it works. It may not work with another couple.

I finally got around to coming to the new boards. Well, I guess, after reading this thread, that there are many reasons I don't like this pairing. Age is one of them. However, more in as it relates to their vast difference in maturity and experience. I agree that Lucy is not particularly mature for her age. In fact, I think she is rather immature for her age. As someone said, she is delaying college to spend time with her boyfriend? Not a particularly mature decision. Her decisions in her relationship with Aaron were quite immature as well. I haven't seen any particular growth in Lucy's maturity level in the last few months. (Please note, I said Lucy's maturity. I have seen growth in PL's acting, just no growth in the character.) Then there is experience. Dusty is a mobster with shady connections, a shady past and shady present. How he started down this path has not ever been discussed. I cannot see what good he brings to Lucy's life. He is dangerous for crying out loud! Too bad realMolly isn't around. She was way more experienced than Lucy and look what happened to her. And please no one tell me he has changed. I doubt Craig would agree. And ATWT has given him no opportunity to change. I don't think this romance will do it. As long as ATWT continues to evade telling the story of *how* Dusty became a crook and a creep, I see no way for him to change. If we don't know the cause, how can we know what the solution will be? Then, of course, there is the fact that these two have zilch in common. Less in common than Lucy and Aaron, and I thought that was bad. His life experience so far eclipses hers. What do they talk about? I mean, other than a kidnapping. And finally, there is the fact that I dislike Lucy and Dusty individually, so why would I like them together? Although, the reason I dislike both of them is what I think are flaws or lack of development in their characters. So far, this romance isn't fixing those things for me. (And yes, I do have a problem with Chris and Alison together. Again, because of maturity and experience.)

See I don't see this as a sign of immaturity. I think everyone SHOULD take time off before going to college to see what the real world is all about. In fact, I'm encouraging my sons to do this when they graduate in a few years. I think it gives young men and women a little more time to know what they want before they begin yet another 4 to however many years of schooling. I guess it's all in how you look at it. And considering the summer she's just had I don't blame her one bit for wanting to take a little time to "smell the roses" so to speak.
But then again, I love them both so I'm probably not unbiased...LOL....

I wish Sierra would take Lucy home with her and I just Don't like Dusty the way he is now. I liked Dusty when Brian Bloom portrayed him,I just don't like this guy.

Ah, but if Lucy was going to take a year before going to college to "see the world" then I wouldn't have a problem. Travel, study, learn, experience, in other words, be pro-active.
However, she just wants to spend time with her boyfriend. Sorry, but that is an immature reason to delay college.

SongBird,Ditto. In my opinion,The nickname fits them. That is all I see. It is not mature love on her part and it is as though he is making up for his youth in losing the lovely Lily to Holden.

I have no problem with the age difference and I happen to love this couple together. The chemistry between them is incredible! I also think that they compliment each other. I definitely don't blame her for taking time off of before going to college. She nearly died this summer - whatever her reasons for not going, I can't blame her for wanting to enjoy her life.

I have no problem with the age difference at all. I think the show is handling this obstacle very well...and I think GM and PL have incredible chemistry. The characters make sense together.
ETA: I disagree that Lucy is staying in town only to spend time with Dusty. She's gone through an incredibly traumatic summer...and she wants to take some time to enjoy herself and relax. She needs a break.
