Forbidden Fruit- Part 6
They had spent a good portion of the next few months moving around. They could never settle down in one place because every time they started to, there would be something that would make him suspicious and they had to move on. It was almost like they were on the run from the law and in a way they were because he knew that if her family managed to track them down, he would probably be on his way to prison. And the thing that surprised him was that he didn’t care… he didn’t care about any of that if it meant he could spend a few more minutes with the woman he loved. Nora had taken a job as a waitress at a local diner when they couldn’t afford the rent. He hated that she had to drop out of school but he had made her promise to go back after she turned 18 and was no longer under her parent’s rules. Bo, in the meantime, had taken a job doing odd jobs all over town. He hadn’t figured out what he was good at yet so he did a little of everything. He came home every night and found her setting up dinner in the candle light. She always worked days and one of the perks was bringing home dinner. He loved having a beautiful woman to come home to every night. He loved having her there to love.
But on this particular night, there was no dinner to come home to. He found her in the bathroom, tears in her eyes. When she looked up at him, he could read the unspoken words even before she handed him the pregnancy test. He sat down next to her in the bathroom on the floor and they cried.
Bo: We’ll figure it out sweetheart. This doesn’t have to mean the end of the world.
Nora: How can we have a child when we don’t even have a home? I’m 17 Bo. How can I be a mother when I’m still a child myself? We can’t even afford to take care of ourselves.
Bo: We’ll find some way to make it work. Nora, are you thinking of not having this child?
Nora: Not if it’s not what you want. Bo, I don’t have any idea how to do this? This wasn’t exactly part of the plan.
Bo: None of this was. But we’re in love right?
Nora: I loved you from the moment I knew what love was. You taught me how to.
Bo: And I love you more then I thought I was capable of. I always thought I’d be like my dad…
Nora: You mean a playboy…
Bo: I was thinking more in terms of a rambler. I was never able to put down roots until I met you. Now it’s the only thing I can think of. I want to give you that house with the white picket fence if it’s what you want.
Nora: What are you asking?
Bo: I’m asking you to marry me.
Nora: Why? Is it because I’m pregnant? If it is then you don’t have to do that. We don’t have to get married just because I’m having your baby.
Bo: I want our child to have a name Nora. I want YOU to have a name. You’ve always said that you don’t know where you belong but I do. You belong with me. Marry me?
Nora: I’m not 18 yet Bo. You know that I can’t do that…
Bo: Sure you can.
He took out the forged documents and she smiled.
Nora: I can’t believe you did this. It looks just like their signature.
Bo: I’ve been paying attention.
Nora: You just committed another crime you know? If someone finds out…
Bo: At this point I don’t care. I just want to make you my wife. If you’ll have me.
Nora: Of course I’ll have you.
Bo: Is that a yes?
Nora: Yes, Bo Buchanan. I’ll marry you.
She fell into his arms and they started kissing.
Nora: When you kiss me like that, I feel like a million bucks.
Bo: Don’t sell yourself short.
He looked up into her eyes and when she gave him the permission he was seeking when he looked in them, he began to unbutton her shirt as he kissed her. She surrendered to everything he made her feel when they made love for the rest of the evening.
The next morning she woke up feeling a sense of dread but she ignored it, thinking she was just being paranoid. They went about their day just as they always had and in the evening, when the sun was setting, they were married on the beach by a justice of the peace that Bo had paid extra to make Nora’s dream come true. It was when they were turning around to go back when Nora suddenly realized why she was so nervous all day… Her parents had found her.
