In response to recent disagreements between fan bases (as well as complaints from multiple fan bases), we are adding a new rule here in the GH forum at Fallin.
There will be "official" threads for bashing characters, bashing couples, supporting characters, and supporting couples.
1. Any and all posts that primarily bash or support a certain character or couple must go inside the corresponding thread. For example, if I want to post a poem making fun of Jason and Sam, then I must post it in the Jason/Sam Bash Thread.
2. The moderators will be sticking the most recent threads that fit this description at the top and closing all others. ETA: As of 12/20, the threads are no longer stuck at the top.
3. If someone starts a new thread bashing, say, Courtney, then the thread will be closed; and we will send a PM to the poster giving them a warning and letting them know what happened. Repeat violators of this rule will be banned.
4. If someone wants to post, say, an anti-Jax poem, and there isn't already a Jax bash thread, then go ahead and start a new thread. One of the moderators will then make it "official."
5. If you are a fan of a certain character/couple, then stay out of the bash thread for that character/couple. If you hate a certain character/couple, then stay out of the support thread for that character/couple. If you, say, try to defend Jason and Sam in a Jason/Sam Bash Thread, then your note will be deleted; and you will receive a warning. Similarly, if you bash Jason and Sam in a Jason/Sam Support Thread, then your note will be deleted; and you will receive a warning. Remember, if you've already received a warning and break another rule, then you will be banned.
6. Other posts, such as discussing storylines in general, which character is the best dressed, who has the sexiest love interests, whatever, can go in their own threads.
7. Please do NOT start a thread discussing fan base wars. I know that plenty of well-intentioned people have started these threads, but they pretty much always seem to result in name calling. Any threads of this nature that are started will, from now on, be closed; and current threads of that nature will be closed as well.
Now, the question is, what happens when you see someone break a rule?
1. Do NOT respond to offensive posts. If you reply to an offensive post, then you are simply adding flame to the fire. If you ignore an offensive post, then even if a mod hasn't had a chance to delete it yet, it will still get bumped to the second page pretty soon.
2. If you see a post that you think breaks one of the rules here at Fallin, then please send a PM to one/all of the moderators, and BE SPECIFIC. Give us the name of the poster, the rule broken, and the forum and thread in which the rule was broken. This saves us time and makes sure that we address the problem you observed.
Hopefully, these new rules will address some of the ugliness that's been going on in the GH forum. If need be, we will be making even more changes. The moderators at Fallin sincerely want the board to be a place where all fans can discuss the soaps in peace. I hate to sound all preachy, but if we work together and follow the rules, then we can make that vision a reality.
