Welcome to Couple of the Week! Hopefully everyone can have fun doing it.
Every weekday (Monday-Friday) you can vote for couples who were onscreen together that day. By couples I don't necessarily mean couples who are dating/engaged/married. If you say see a scene between Bianca and Babe on AMC, or Adam & Maria, and think they'd make a great romantic pair, then you can vote for them. Just so long that they're onscreen together, that's the only catch. After all votes are counted and the topic is closed, then whoever has the most votes will win.
Once a couple wins, then they are inelgible to win any other day that week. We will keep voting until each day has a different winner (or winners, if there is a tie). Then on Saturday, Couple of the Week voting will begin. This will be a contest between all the couples that won during the week. The winner will be the Couple of the Week!
We will try to add up the votes at 4:00 P.M. eastern time, and to ensure this we will try to make sure that one of the three administrators is available each day. However, despite our efforts, we cannot always add the poll up at exactly that time. Life happens & sometimes that will force us to close it later than others. If it is so important to you that we close this at the exact same time every day, then I would suggest you not vote on it.
Here are a few rules to adhere to when posting on Couple of the Day:
1) Posts cannot be edited more than five minutes after it was first posted, because it makes it very hard on the admins. This means we have to constantly check to make sure no one has changed their votes, and this can be very time consuming when you have say 200 votes. If you made a mistake and accidentally voted for a couple you hated, then PM me or one of the admins so we can delete your post (however, you won't be able to vote for that day of voting).
2) If you have more than one post (unless it is an obvious double post) then we will delete both your posts. I know it's easy to mistakenly vote more than once, but we just have this rule to make sure people don't try to rig the results.
3) There will be no person bashing in this thread, as well as no couple bashing. If you hate a couple, that's fine, but you can post those feelings on, say, the GL forum rather than to clutter up the notes. This forum is for COTD/W only. It makes things easier on the admins who add it up this way. Should bashing occur, your vote will not be counted & your post will be deleted. Once again, if this cannot be fun we will stop doing this.
***New rule as of 8/24/07***
4) There will be no fanbase discussion in this thread. This is a poll for favorite couples, so there's no need to discuss fans of the couple, just the couple itself. Even if the discussion is positive, we've found that any discussion of fanbases in this thread can lead to tension among fans, which we want to avoid at all costs.
Some things to remember:
1) This is not SID or SOD. The networks do not check the outcome of this poll each week. This is an internet poll and it is just for fun. And if it cannot be treated as just for fun, we will stop doing it.
2) If you are so invested in your couple winning that you're angry when they don't win, I would suggest you not vote on this poll. You need to accept the possibility that your couple probably won't win every single week. There will be another COTW next weekend. And the weekend after that.
3) Just because you don't like a couple, you cannot assume they don't have fans. Just because you love a couple doesn't mean everyone else does, and vice versa. If a couple has good scenes, their fans will vote for them.
I hope this doesn't seem too harsh, but Josette, Takeitha and I are just trying to make sure Couple of the Week runs as smoothly as possible.
